Mascia’s little brother was kidnapped by a white bird. To find him, Mascia must go into the forest alone. On her way, she meets a Russian stove, an apple tree, and a river. What Mascia doesn’t know is that there is a witch in the woods.
Iku Dekune was born 1969 in Tokyo. In 1992, she graduated from Musashino Art University, majoring in printmaking. Her etchings on Grimm’s Fairy Tales were selected in 1998 for the Bologna Children’s Book Fair Illustrations. In 1999, her works on Grimm were exhibited in Germany at the Museum of the Brothers Grimm, Kassel and at the House of the Brothers Grimm, Steinau. In 2003, the picture book Amefurashi (The Sea Hare, 2001) was awarded the Grand-Prix at the Biennial of Illustrations Bratislava. Since 2002 she has lived in Praque. |
