Noma Cultural Foundation was established to carry out the wishes of Mr. Seiji Noma. He was the first president of Kondansha Ltd., a Jaspanese publishing company. The foundation began to grant Noma Prize for Literature in 1942 and separately Noma Prize for Juvenile Literature in 1963 to encourage children’s literature that plays part in human fundamental development. The awards are presented in November every year.
