Ever since he was a small child, Shinji has been told that Yoko, the dog, was his mother. Now that he is in the fifth grade, he knows it is not true. However, there is nothing inconvenient about it, and he was enjoying life with his father. One day, Yoko disappears and Shinji’s father madly searches for her. After seeing his father wearing himself out, Shinji starts to look for his real mother. Shinji learns and accepts the fact that a child cannot choose his or her parents. An adult who cannot become a mature parent reflects the family issues of today. A growing child’s brave and pure attitude touches the readers’ hearts. This is a story of children moving on and their regenerated family.
